Genesis says That about Marriage?

“We both love to study,” a newlywed couple told us. “We’ve been to a number of marriage conferences and have read lots of books. But this is the best conference yet because we’ve learned things from the Bible that we’ve never been taught anywhere else.”

Takeaway

At the end of every Messianic Marriage Matters conference, we ask the participants (20 couples and six singles at this conference!) to give us their Takeaway, the “big thing” that they have learned, or perhaps the first step of application they will make.

A woman, married for decades, told us, “I thought I knew about marriage as my husband and I have counseled others, but I was surprised at the deep and foundational things we learned from Genesis 1-3. We are thankful for Sam’s careful study and teaching.”

The Blessing is in the Doing

“I learned that it doesn’t matter what we know, but what we apply,” a husband and father told us. “I come from a tradition where knowledge itself (theology and biblical facts) is important. We have learned much to apply in our family life. I’m the strong, silent type—and that needs to change. With God’s help, it will happen.” (Sam encouraged the men, during the Men’s Breakout, to not let their personalities dictate their calling. Every man is called to communicate, lead, and nurture his wife and family.)

“Marriage is a Ministry”

Several times throughout the conference, Sam likes to remind the group that “Marriage is Ministry.” This Takeaway came from a husband who attended this conference with his wife for a second time: “I’ll remember this powerful statement Sam made: You are the only person God selected to minister His full grace to your spouse!’”

Titus 21 Woman

A young, single woman told us, “There is a lot more to marriage than I realized! I didn’t understand what to look for in a husband or how to be a godly wife, or even to be a mentor in our community.” She learned, from Miriam Nadler’s breakout session with women, that even someone as young as herself (not even 20 years old!) that she, too, can be a Titus 2 woman—one who mentors other women in the faith.

Praying Specifically

Another single gal said, “I took this class in obedience to God. I’ve been praying for a spouse. I have learned about the distinct biblical roles God has given husbands and wives—it’s much clearer in my mind now. Now I know how to pray more specifically. I look forward to taking this course again with my future husband, as God provides.” (After she shared, Sam playfully teased, “All you single women, when you’re dating, tell the guy, ‘Let’s spend a weekend together’—then bring him to this conference.” You should have heard the laughter!)

A husband (married for 50+ years!) had been attempting to start a Messianic congregation in western North Carolina. A noble endeavor, yet…after attending this conference, he confessed, “I know now that I have a lot to do in my life with my wife, to become more of a spiritual leader in my house before I can be a spiritual leader elsewhere.”

Feast of Information!

A self-described “middle-aged single guy with no horse in the race” wondered what he could learn from this conference. It turns out he learned several things! One of his takeaways was that, if we do not value others as being made in God’s image, we will use them in one way or another to fulfill our wants and needs

One couple traveled 2+ hours to attend the conference. The wife neatly wrapped up her thoughts with this word of gratitude: “The Conference was so well organized, and the time was honored. The food was delicious/healthy and kept my energy level up to receive the feast of information! Best Days Ever! We can’t quit talking about it. We have already shared it with others for next year!”

Resources!

To encourage continued growth–discipleship, as we refer to it–we had two tables loaded with books written by Sam and Miriam Nadler. Our conference-goers appreciated thumbing through the books and asking questions about them. One couple bought five copies of the Messianic Marriage Matters books for each of their adult children! And that first couple who “loves to read and study” bought material to keep them busy for months. But they said their first priority was to continue working through the marriage book, reading and answering the discussion questions, before they move on to the rest of their new books.

Please visit https://wordofmessiah.org/marriage-conferences/ to register for our August 1-2, 2026, online (Zoom) conference. Another resource is to purchase our recorded on-demand video course. (Use the link above.) We would love to minister to and encourage you in your marriage and relationships–in whatever age, stage, or location you may be!

“The Point of Commitment is the Point of Attack.”

Thank you to all who prayed for our conference! The Lord once again brought us a great group of eager learners, and He sustained Sam through a long and busy weekend. Please pray for all who attended to practice and apply the truths they have learned. We know the enemy is out to destroy, but the Lord will prevail as we depend on, as we desperately cling to, our Messiah!
