Our Social Distancing cannot destroy our Spiritual Unity!

Our spiritual unity in Messiah is not based on our physical proximity but on our personal faith in His atonement for our sins. Our amazing unity in Messiah is reflective of the unity of God, for Yeshua said: “that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me” (John 17:21).

The very unity of God in the Shema is lived out through those of us who abide in Yeshua. Our indestructible unity in Yeshua becomes our living testimony in these troubled times.

As long as Yeshua is the focus of our faith, we will not be divided by fear, but rather, His love will constrain our hearts to care for and reach out to one another. We are His light of life in the darkness of despair; we are His instruments of hope in a hopeless world.

Everyone’s plans, schedules and seasons have imploded, but not God’s plan. “All things (still) work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His (unshakable) purpose” (Rom 8:28). For God is on His throne; He is with you always, and He is NOT self-quarantined. He is, in fact, mightily at work through the pandemic. How? Read this:

Hebrews 12:26: “And His voice shook the earth then, but now He has promised, saying, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.” 27 This expression, “Yet once more,” denotes the removing of those things which can be shaken, as of created things, so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. 28 “Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; 29 for our God is a consuming fire.”

All our Plans reveal our Priorities

So, when His shaking shakes up our plans, it is meant to reveal our priorities. Are our priorities based on what is an eternal and unshakable kingdom? Or are our plans and priorities based on what is unsustainable and passing away. Are our time, talent, and treasure (TTT) prioritized to God’s plan, or to ours? To the degree our TTT are part of His plan, then to that degree we will be grateful and serving God and one another in awesome love.

So, though we are “socially distant”, we must not be spiritually isolated, for our spiritual unity is both now and forever.

• Pray for others and with one another. Pray that our nation will repent and be revived in Messiah!
• Put encouraging verses on your FB page; be Yeshua’s “light” to others (Matt 5:14).
• Send text messages to those you’re praying for and let them know that you are available by phone.
• Look for God’s unusual opportunities to reach out, because of the virus. One young man, Garrett, is a resident adviser at his college, but his college is all online now. So, he is texting all his residents, asking how they’re doing and letting them know he’s there for them, if they’d like to talk (or pray). He is growing through the crisis, because God planned adverse winds so that the plane could go higher! Garrett can’t change the crisis, but he can be a reminder of One who will “never leave us nor forsake us” (Heb 13:5).

“This is (still) the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24)! Let our indestructible unity be His unshakable testimony of His unchanging love for all people.
