This month's Women's Ministry column comes from a
dear friend and sister in the Lord, Carla Phillips, who 'wears several
hats' at our Charlotte congregation plant, Hope of Israel. If you
weren't able to attend this year's retreat, you'll be convinced by the
end of this article that you will certainly not miss next year's event.

The Joy of the
Lord is My Strength! |

Eighty-three women, a light dusting of snow,
teaching, worship, coffee, Israeli folk dancing, shopping,
shmoozing, an armor-of-God fashion show, a salad bar, and a
gorgeous mountain view--what exactly do these ingredients add up
to? It could only be the 8th Annual Messianic Women's Retreat! Earlier Miriam had written a theme song for the retreat, which I was still singing weeks later - 'The joy of the Lord is my strength / the joy of the Lord is my strength / give me Your eyes to see / my life Your tapestry / the joy of the Lord is my strength.' What a great reminder of where our focus is to be - especially when all we see is the back of the tapestry with all the knots, random endless threads and an unfinished disjointed picture. God sees the whole picture. The blessings continued as we met for
early morning devotionals, small group sessions, and
catching up with friends over many, many cups of coffee. |
