Whenever he is invited to minister he loves getting to know the
congregational leaders and team, preparing the material that will fit a
particular group and then the interaction through teaching and
individual mentoring. Sam’s passion is to see Messianic believers,
leaders and congregations grow in stability and effectiveness.
At the end of December, Sam flew to Colorado Springs, CO for a weekend with
Kehilat Mishpachat Yeshua (Congregation of the family of Jesus). It
didn’t seem to matter that there had been a snow storm that dumped four
inches of snow the night of the first meeting because the attendance was
very good for both Friday night, all day Saturday through the evening,
and again on Sunday.
Steve, the congregational leader was gracious to let us know what the
weekend meant to him personally.
Rabbi Steve wrote, “I learned more practical information from Sam in that
weekend than I can literally count from 300+ credit hours of study post
high school in a Bible college and three seminaries. To structure the
congregation along the lines of Messiah’s three offices of ministry:
Prophet (evangelism, discipleship), Priest (prayer, worship) and King
(administration, leadership) 'uncomplicates' what can tend to become
complicated. He encouraged a very discouraged group, and discouragement
seems to abound within the Messianic movement. Sam was able to remind us
of the important things in life: making disciples. I have been teaching
on this since I came to the congregation in 2005, but Sam put a very
biblical and very passionate touch to the subject and now, here we go.
Not only is he knowledgeable, he is personable in a way that makes you
want to connect for more. Gifted teacher and friend, I just need to look
back and the encouragement continues. We as a congregation are looking
forward to making plans to bring him back when we can for a
congregational training weekend.”
Encouraging Feedback
Rabbi Steve’s wife, Ariel, who is active in many of the congregational
ministries, wrote the following encouragement: “Sam took a group of
people who were willing, but just didn’t know where to go next. I think
he empowered us through encouragement. As soon as he left that day we
took a short break, and then had a meeting around the things Sam has
just taught us. He believes in us, he sees us doing great things and he
communicated that. There are a lot of godly people here who want to
serve God, but what Sam did is to bring them, and us all, into focus.”
Needless to say this was very heartening for us to learn how the Lord
worked during the weekend. Thank you for your prayers for us as the Lord
continues to open doors for Messianic training and ministry. For
